INACTIVE - ARC - Materials and Molecular Analysis (MMA)

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

MMA, BIO and ISS iLab seats are merging into one iLab seat for ARC to simplify service requests, equipment scheduling, and billing across multiple ARC centers/labs. This change is anticipated to take effect on September 1. More information will follow.

About the ARC Materials and Molecular Analysis Center

The Center for Materials and Molecular Analysis (MMA) is part of the Analytical Resources Core (ARC), an Institutional Core Facility at CSU. The MMA director is Dr. Karolien Denef (Karolien.Denef@colostate.edu).

Follow the links below for the iLab pages of the other branches of the ARC:

ARC-ISS (electron microscopy (TEM/SEM), surface analysis (XPS, ellipsometer, profilometer, contact angle goniometer)

ARC-BIO (proteomics-, metabolomics-, ionomics- mass spectrometry, targeted quantitative mass spectrometry)

Overview of Services

The ARC-MMA provides state-of-the-art research infrastructure and education services in support of advanced chemical and materials sciences. The MMA is organized into 5 laboratories, each offering a complement of sophisticated instruments and technical expertise to support faculty/student research, and industrial and educational outreach in the following categories:

  • Materials Analysis (Thermal, Magnetic and Physical Properties)
  • Mass Spectrometry (GCMS, LCMS, TOF and QTOF, MALDI-TOF, single and triple quads, ion trap)
  • Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (400-500MHz NMR, EPR)
  • Optical Spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR, UV-Vis-NIR, Fluorescence, DLS)
  • X-ray Diffraction and Scattering (single crystal, powder, thin film, XRD, XRR, GAXRD, SAXS/WAXS)

The instruments are available for use by researchers at CSU, our collaborators and external customers after appropriate review. Most instruments are available on a self-service basis twenty-four hours per day after appropriate classes or training provided by faculty and staff associated with the MMA.

Acknowledgments in Publications

Acknowledgment of facility contributions is expected in publications that include any data generated in the facility. Please cite us by our Research Resource ID (RRID: SCR_021758).

An example of an appropriate acknowledgment is “The authors wish to thank the Analytical Resources Core (RRID: SCR_021758) at Colorado State University for instrument access, training and assistance with sample analysis”.
